Canada's Summer 2026 Is Going to Be One for the Books. Here Is Your Guide to All of It.

There is something about a Canadian summer that feels earned. After months of cold and grey, the country comes alive all at once and this year the calendar is stacked from coast to coast. Canada Day falls on a Wednesday this year, giving Canadians in every province the perfect excuse to stretch July 1 into a full week of celebration. Here is what is happening this summer in the provinces MaxWell calls home.

British Columbia

The Vancouver International Jazz Festival runs June 26 to July 5, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival takes over Jericho Beach Park July 17 to 19, and Bard on the Beach, Western Canada's largest Shakespeare festival, runs from June all the way through September at Vanier Park.

Alberta

Alberta is packed all summer. The TD Edmonton International Jazz Festival runs June 19 to 28, and the Calgary Stampede, the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, takes over Stampede Park July 3 to 12. Edmonton follows with K-Days and Taste of Edmonton both running July 16 to 26, the Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose July 30 to August 2, and the Heritage Festival at Hawrelak Park August 1 to 3.

Saskatchewan and Manitoba

The SaskTel Jazz Festival kicks off summer in late June in Saskatoon, followed by Country Thunder in Craven in July. Manitoba delivers the beloved Winnipeg Folk Festival at Birds Hill Provincial Park July 9 to 12, one of North America's premier outdoor music events now in its 50th year.

Ontario

Ontario celebrates Canada Day with events across the province on July 1. Sunfest brings international music and culture to Victoria Park in London from July 9 to 12, and communities from the north to the south mark the summer with local festivals, fireworks, and family events throughout June, July, and August.

New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada

Canada Day in Charlottetown, PEI is one of the country's most storied celebrations, taking place in the birthplace of Confederation. The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo runs July 1 to 5 in Halifax, drawing over two million spectators for its military demonstrations, highland dancers, and international performers. The Cavendish Beach Music Festival brings Atlantic Canada's largest outdoor music event to PEI in July, and YQM Country Fest fills Dieppe, New Brunswick with country music and community spirit.
